Article about 28 mm in Figure International 34

The last issue of Figure International (34th in Spain) contains an article which I wrote about figure painting in 28 mm. This article is interesting because the magazine focuses on figure painting in bigger scales and its readers are usually fans of Historic miniatures not used to paint 28 mm figures (the usual scale in Fantasy).

For those of you who do not know it, Figure International is the most important magazine about figure and miniature painting, edited by Andrea Miniatures in many countries and languages. If you have the opportunity to read it, I hope you like it!

GD Spain 2010: Remarkable figures 1

We are still with the hangover after winning the World Cup, but I have managed to gather some photos of the best figures seen in this year's GD Spain. Here are some of them:

These are two bad photos of the SlayerSword from Rubén Martínez (darthgollum). I know, judging by the photos you might think it's not as good as a Slayersword should be, but when you have it in your hand its a very fine painted figure. Although it passed unnoticed in the shelves, it won the Sword in the end.

Lord Nurglemors from Elías Alonso (morsa). A very good figure badly mistreated last year which has managed bronze in Open this year (Elías had another figure entered in Single 40k).

Genestealer by Juano, demonstrating that his award last year wasn't random.

A Space Wolf Terminator from Piquifl, did not win anything but I think it is a good idea, I will probably do something similar in the future.

Hugo le Petit by Petrus, did not win anything but take a look at this retro delight!

Grimgor from Miguel Matías won Gold in Open.

A Land Raider by aArsies, improved tabletop quality according to him.

A very fine Khorne berserkers squad from Petrus.

Again Petrus, duel based on the fight between Anakin and Obi Wan from Knightmodels presented some time ago (you will surely remember it).

A Boromir from arsenus_kaligar with a very special colour palette. No awards for this one.

Chaos Hero by Octavio (Aathos).

My Éowyn (the traveller) which I presented because Elías convinced me to even though I didn't intend to. No awards again, and I think its a very fine figure (even having a peasant face). I will post better photos soon.

An Arwen by Piti, the painting is not very good but the idea of the flowers simply makes you fall in love (what else).

Well, there are many more yet to be shown, the old school Tyranid by Pradal, the mutant from Rubén Pérez Alonso, the Imperial Fists explorer by Elías Alonso, the photos from the scary diorama category... more and better coming soon. Stay tuned.

I still have to publish photos from last week's GD and commment about it in my blog, but it has been a very intense week because Spain has finally won a World Cup in football. It's time to celebrate and party!

It has been a historic World Cup filled with emotion and glory for Spain.

Tribute to the Fallen 6 months later

It seems unbelievable but it's been six months since I uploaded pictures of "Tribute to the Fallen". Today, as usual in coolmini, the figure has been rescued from the gallery in their "Blast From the Past - The top mini submitted today, six months ago!". Well the funny thing is that the figure remains first in the top 10 of the year, with over 1000 votes and beyond 40000 views, my personal record (and has, by far, more votes and visits than all of my other figures together). It's a honour which I certainly do not deserve at all, considering all the great masterpieces I've seen these six months in coolmini, much better than mine, which inexplicably have less rating. May this message serve as my personal tribute to all of them!

But enough rememberance from the past. I really wanted to use this post to remind you that this Sunday is the day the Spanish Golden Demon will be celebrated, and yes, I will enter competition. It will be the "figure" in which I have worked the most in all my life (and by far). Hopefully, all the effort will pay off!

If you haven't finally guessed what my entry is... just look at the title of the blog. It's been there in front of your eyes all this time!
