For sale: Slayersword UK 2012

Thanks to masterminis.net for this information!

I've seen weird things regarding awards in Golden Demons. I know people who sell their miniatures after winning one Golden Demon. I've seen people trying to sell the Golden Demon trophy also (who would want one being as ugly as it is?). But this one is a new one for me.

Karol Rudyk has published an auction where he is selling his recently won Slayersword (just a few weeks ago, he won Slayersword UK 2012 with this Vampire Counts' Dragon).

Check it out, I'm not lying!

What do you think about this? Would you buy it if you had the money? Would you do the same if you had the chance? The reasons for Karol selling his sword are unknown to me, but how would you feel if you had to sell the award you won with so much effort?

Ok, I know one guy that would certainly appreciate if someone gave him a Slayersword for real.

In the meantime, others decide to sell it! The world is so unfair... :D

What do you guys think?

I wonder what price would this Japanese slayer sword depicted on the photo fetch ^^

I think it is a sad thing to do, it is a great trophy, very high quality as trophies go. But at the end of the day it is up to the individual, maybe his practical needs are greater, maybe he needs the money for a car or an expensive item which means more to him. At the end of the day he is the UK Slayer Sword 2012 winner and no one can take that away or buy that off of him. I got a finalist pin there and my mates were telling me off for selling my model! I am using the money to buy another model though!! So the money is used wisely and that should be the main consideration.

More to the point, who would buy one..

Replica swords can be had for less... and you'd always know you hadn't won it..

But then, i guess i don't understand people.

I heard that Karol is also interested in selling his diorama. I think he could have gotten most by selling both together...

That could work well

I think it's a shame. I began my quest for a Golden Demon this year and I just missed bronze in Duel at US GD. The sword is the pinnacle of achievement and recognition for our craft. If you want to sell your creation, that's one thing, but to sell the hard earned trophy is a true shame.

Sold the trophy or not he are the winner anyway. I think it is normal 'cause it is not only the trophy but the collector's items too.

End of the day the sword is just an object, I think it is perfectly reasonable for him to sell it, doesnt take away the fact that he has won the slayer sword does it. Also maybe he would rather have the money in his pocket than a lethal weapon on the mantle piece

I don't know why you'd want one if you hadn't won it yourself :/

His auction is an insult to everybody who work hard trying to get a Slayer Sword. If you do not care about the trophy or your entry, why compete at all?

Also, if I understand this correctly this guy tried to cheat at US GD 2009. He got his customer to enter already sold models in to competition.

He is talented, no argument there, but his behavior disgust me.

Maybe he has kids and a small apartment, and he doesn't want a big sword hanging around the place? Maybe he's financially strapped and could use the cash for more important things in his life? Maybe he simply thinks the sword is ridiculous looking? There could be dozens of personal reasons why someone would want to get rid of it, and he's not really beholden to your or I to explain those reasons.

In the end, it's his and he can do what he wants with it.

It's a trophy. Regardless of selling, giving away, throwing away or melting down the sword, it doesn't erase his win/accomplishment, it's still on record. If he needs the money more and someone wants the sword more than the money, no harm no foul. It's a shame, just like Olympic winners who end up selling their medals and the like, but c'est la vie.

He worked hard for it, he won it, for sure he wanted to have it but if other needs are greater than what's wrong with it? I only hope it would be a hi bid.
