Tribute to the Fallen 6 months later

It seems unbelievable but it's been six months since I uploaded pictures of "Tribute to the Fallen". Today, as usual in coolmini, the figure has been rescued from the gallery in their "Blast From the Past - The top mini submitted today, six months ago!". Well the funny thing is that the figure remains first in the top 10 of the year, with over 1000 votes and beyond 40000 views, my personal record (and has, by far, more votes and visits than all of my other figures together). It's a honour which I certainly do not deserve at all, considering all the great masterpieces I've seen these six months in coolmini, much better than mine, which inexplicably have less rating. May this message serve as my personal tribute to all of them!

But enough rememberance from the past. I really wanted to use this post to remind you that this Sunday is the day the Spanish Golden Demon will be celebrated, and yes, I will enter competition. It will be the "figure" in which I have worked the most in all my life (and by far). Hopefully, all the effort will pay off!

GD Spain 2010 coming very soon!

Less than two weeks left for Golden Demon Spain and painters are now finishing their entries (well, some are even starting theirs just about now). The contest seems interesting, people are bluffing about their entries against each other which is contributing to a very competitive atmosphere. This year it seems there will be quite good participation in the diorama category which is not very common. Usually the stronger categories are the individual ones, and it is surprising to see so many names announcing their participation in the scenes category. We just can't wait to see what will happen on July 4. How exciting!
On my part, I cannot confirm anything yet, superior beings have planned against me so that, as always, I could certainly use some more time to paint before the event. But I hope to get in time and enter the competition...

IMC "Los Tercios del Rey" Toledo 2010 results

Great event this weekend in Toledo. Couldn't stay long but I could see all the entries thanks to being part of the jury of the contest. Congratulations to all the awarded, we could admire a lot of great pieces! The only bad thing, I have to say that there were not as many Fantasy pieces as we would have liked, good level indeed, but the Historical participation outnumbered Fantasy.

Especial congratulations to Dieguete, for his Best of Show in Fantasy, a very well deserved award for his talent. We can't wait to see what he will be preparing next!

Impressive miniatures also in the Starclass categories... amazing Alex Cortina and Julio Cabos (as usual) and all the miniatures we could see. Beautiful.

IMC "Los Tercios del Rey" Toledo 2010

June 5 and 6 are the days selected for the IMC (International Miniatures Contest) organized by the association "Los Tercios del Rey" in Toledo. Some already know this event from previous occasions, first known as "León Rampante" organized by Andrea Miniatures, and later as "Evento Miniaturístico de San Lorenzo de El Escorial." However, due to the success of the latest editions of the competition and the limited space of the facility, which no longer offered potential for growth this year, the Cultural Association of "Los Tercios del Rey" has decided to celebrate the event in the "Imperial City" of Toledo by this new name of "IMC International Miniatures Contest - Los Tercios del Rey". It will be a great event according to the fantastic medieval placement and by the high painting standards usually seen every year.

This time, like the past one, my friend Elias Alonso (Morsi) and me have been invited to be part of the jury. We will be in charge of the Fantasy sections. Therefore, we'll be there on Saturday 5th (we will not be able to attend un Sunday). If anyone wants to chat with us you know where to find us that day!
